Cinnamon, Pecan & Pear puffs

This dessert is a fall must just like pumpkin and pecan pie. It tastes like both together, it’s refreshing because of the pear, yet quite warm because of the cinnamon and pecans. This is a very easy and a quick fruit pastry that is suitable for a continental breakfast or an end of the day fruit dessert.

You don’t have to make the puff pastry from scratch, just buy it from any grocery shop, and make these pretty and elegant pastries with in 10-15 minutes, bake and serve them. It can be served both cold or warm. You can also serve it with a dollop of whipped cream.

Cinnamon Pear puffs

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour

Yield: 4 Servings

Serving Size: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 large puff pastry sheet
  • 2 large red pears
  • 1/4 cup pecans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Egg Wash
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon water

Instructions

  1. Place pecan, sugar and cinnamon in a food processor and ground until smooth like a paste.
  2. Cut pears in half lengthwise, remove seeds and core. Fill the pear with the pecan paste.
  3. Place pear halves on the puff pastry, leave 1 inch around the pears use a pastry cutter and cut around the pears. Remove pears, spread with some of the pecan paste, place pears over the paste.
  4. Preheat oven to 375 F. Place the pastries on a baking tray, in a bowl mix the egg yolk and the water, use a brush and egg wash the pastry edges. Place the tray on the oven's middle rack and bake for 20-30 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. Take the tray out of the oven, let it cool down for 5 minutes, take out of the tray, plate and serve.
